Edward Wollmann—Community and University Affiliations

- Director, Institute for Community-Based Research (I-CBR). (2009 to Present)
The Institute for Community Based Research (I-CBR) is a new initiative of the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living, whose overall objective is to make available to communities the vast knowledge generated by university researchers and by community members themselves, in order to increase quality of life for persons with disabilities, our families, and the communities in which we live.
- Director of Program Research & Development (2006 to 2009)
Principal duties consisted of performing research on best practices—i.e. ‘what works’—and then translating this research into effective, fundable programs and interventions that will bring about positive change in our communities. Much of this research and development focused on coalition building and partnership development.
- AmeriCorps*VISTA Supervisor (2003 to 2006)
Developed Ann Arbor CIL AmeriCorps*VISTA program from an initiative consisting of two in-house AmeriCorps*VISTA members to its current status as a statewide AmeriCorps*VISTA initiative, the second-largest in Michigan, with 28 AmeriCorps*VISTA members serving at 11 partner organizations throughout Michigan. - Program Manager--MicroEnterprise Works (1995 to 2003)
Managed Ann Arbor CIL microenterprise development program, dedicated to assisting entrepreneurs with disabilities in starting and/or expanding small businesses. This initiative was (and is) a statewide program that serves 150 to 200 disabled entrepreneurs yearly.
University-Community Partnerships
- Participate in NIH-funded University of Michigan’s Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research’s (MICHR) Community Engagement Program, Community Engagement Coordinating Council, designed to involve the community’s expertise and knowledge in improving the quality of UM clinical health research by engaging the community as a co-producer of research.
- Participate in University of Michigan, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, NIDRR-funded Model Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) initiative as member of the SCI Advisory Council Board.
- Participate in NIDRR-funded University of Michigan, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Post-Doctoral Fellows Training Grant as Community Mentor.
- Participate as Community Partner and Mentor with University of Michigan Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP).
